A Typical Sunday at St. Paul's
10:30 A.M. Worship Service
This service is usually a Rite II service, which means it
follows the Order of Worship found beginning on page 355 of the
Book of Common Prayer, a liturgy using modern language. On the
first Sunday of the month we use contemporary renewal music
rather than the hymnal, and the children remain in worship with
a short sermon prepared especially for them. The rest of the
month, the children follow the cross out of worship during the
sequence hymn for a short Sunday School time, returning to the
service in time to receive Communion with their parents.
Occasionally, we will use Rite I (BCP, page 323) which uses
Elizabethan language. This service is pleasing to many who were
brought up using the ancient language of the former prayer book
however; we do not use it on a regular basis.
11:30 A.M.
Each Sunday following worship, we gather in the narthex (the
entrance hall) for refreshments and visiting. On the first
Sunday of the month, the parish gathers for a potluck meal. Our
visitors are welcomed and encouraged to stay and enjoy the food
and fellowship!
